How to Remove Period Stains Out of Clothes

More often than not, clothes and undergarments are the victims of these pesky surprises. But worry not! With the right cleaning methods and the best stain remover for period blood, such as Vanish, these unwanted guests won’t stick around long. 

So, let's get down to business and learn how to get period blood out of clothes. Trust me, it'll make laundry day a whole lot easier! 

The fresher a period stain is, the easier it is to remove. So, if you notice blood on your clothes, try to treat them as soon as possible. The longer the stain sits on the fabric, the harder it becomes to remove it. 

Additionally, the temperature of the water is key! Always use cold water when treating the stain because hot or warm water will only further set the stain, making it challenging to remove. 

To start, soak a clean, fresh, and white microfiber cloth or paper towel in cold water, wring it out, then blot the blood stain from the inside. Continue the process until there’s no more excess blood to remove.  

After that, to remove period stains from white clothes, use Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White Powder; for colored clothes, use Vanish Oxi Action Powder. 

There are three methods for utilizing Vanish products to eliminate stains: Pre-treat, Soaking, and adding directly to the Wash. 

Although pre-treatment and soaking are typically reserved for tough stains, the in-wash method is the simplest and can be combined with pre-treat or soaking.

INSTRUCTIONS

Option 1: Pre Treat

1. Add ¼ scoop (15g) of Vanish Oxi Action Powder in the water (MAX 40°C)

2. Stir for 30 seconds.

3. Apply the mixture directly onto the stain, rub it gently, and let it sit for 10 mins (do not allow Vanish to dry on the fabric. 

4. Wash as usual. 

Option 2: Soak

1. Add 1 scoop (60g) of Vanish Oxi Action Powder in 4L of water.

2. Stir for 30 seconds.

3. Soak colored clothes in the solution for 1h max, and for whites, it's 4h max.

4. Wash as usual. 

Option 3: Wash

Add Vanish Oxi Action Powder to your machine on top of your laundry detergent. Below are the recommended stain remover dosages:

• ½  scoop (30g) for normal stains.

• 1 scoop (60g) for tough & dried stains.

How can I remove old period stains from white clothes?

Pre-treat the old period stain directly with Vanish Oxi Action Gel and add its 100ml dose with the laundry detergent into your washing machine to remove set-in period stains.

Are period stains permanent?

No, but if not washed right away, removing the blood stains on your pants or jeans from periods can become challenging. 

Can I use a hairdryer to help lift period stains from clothing?
