But the same turmeric is not as tasty when it leaves behind annoying and stubborn turmeric stains on your clothes due to curcumin, a naturally occurring chemical in the spice. However, removing turmeric stains from clothes doesn’t need to be like climbing Mount Everest.

When you notice the turmeric stain, wipe it off the clothes using a paper towel, knife, or spoon to scrape as much as possible. Remember not to rub the stain, especially if it is in liquid form, to prevent it from setting deep into the garment fibers.  

After that, use Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White Powder to remove the turmeric stain from the white clothes; for colored clothes, use Vanish Oxi Action Powder. 

There are three methods for utilizing Vanish products to eliminate stains: Pre-treat, Soaking, and adding directly to the Wash.

Option 2: Soak

1. Add 1 scoop (60g) of Vanish Oxi Action Powder in 4L of water.

2. Stir for 30 seconds.

3. Soak the clothes in the solution for 1h max, and for whites, it's 4h max.

4. Wash as usual. 

Option 3: Wash

Add Vanish Oxi Action Powder to your machine on top of your laundry detergent. Below are the recommended stain remover dosages:

• ½  scoop (30g) for normal stains.

• 1 scoop (60g) for tough & dried stains.

There are a few alternatives for removing turmeric stains from clothes. However, the following solutions are only applicable to whites. Using Vanish is always the best option for the best stain remover results. 

Vinegar

Mix one tablespoon of laundry detergent with a tablespoon of white vinegar with half a liter of cold water, then apply the mixture to the stained area with a clean cloth. Using a sponge, soak up the excess liquid if there’s any. Repeat the process until the stain disappears. 

Things to consider before using vinegar on clothes: 

Vinegar is acidic, and its repeated exposure can have negative effects on the clothes, including: 

• Causing colors to fade

• Wearing the fibers of the fabric 

• Lingering smell if not properly rinsed out 

Lemon

Squeeze the lemon juice directly onto the turmeric stain, leave it for about 30 minutes, and then wash your clothes normally using the laundry detergent and Vanish. 

Things to consider before using lemon on clothes: 

Lemon juice has citric acid that acts as a bleaching acid, and like vinegar, using it too much or too often can cause color fading, fabric weakening, and compromising the quality and appearance of the garments.

What should I do if the turmeric stain has dried on the fabric?

If the turmeric stain has dried on the fabric, follow the steps mentioned below to remove it: 

1. Scrape off excess turmeric.

2. Flush the area with cold water.

3. Pour Vanish Multi Use Liquid Stain Removal on the stain. 

4. Leave the product on the fabric for 10 minutes max.

5. Rub the stain as required, and then follow the washing machine instructions.

6. Skip the clothes dryer until you're sure the stain is completely removed.
